Love Your Liver – Impact Projects

Value creation at EASL does not stop at its members, partners, and delegates. EASL is committed to providing a long lasting, positive impact on the lives of those who are connected to its events, as well as all the people living and working in the communities who host them.

Impact is not simply a word or an abstract concept at EASL. Impact is a tangible goal, an unceasing pursuit towards a better future for all Europeans. With the release of the EASL-Lancet Commission report in 2020, EASL decided to broaden its public health mandate to bring its passion for liver health directly to the communities it serves. In 2022, EASL launched a series of impact projects called Love Your Liver in London, UK alongside the International Liver Congress (ILC).

Love Your Liver is designed to raise awareness for liver health, promote early detection and care, and build local professional capacities in the hepatology field. Each year, the EASL team organises projects tailored to the local community hosting the EASL Congress. These initiatives directly work towards EASL’s goal of reducing liver disease burdens across Europe, promoting liver health, and catalysing change in the meetings industry to encourage more socially responsible event practices.

The projects were covered by various press outlets worldwide. EASL used the media momentum to address liver health, prevention, early detection, and stigma more broadly with public readers across Europe.
